How the Arizona Voluntary Vehicle Repair Program Works

If your vehicle failed its Arizona emissions test, the Arizona Voluntary Vehicle Repair Program (VVRP) may help cover the cost of eligible emissions-related repairs. Qualifying vehicle owners pay a $100 co-pay, and the program may contribute up to $900 toward approved repairs. Stapley Car Care is an approved participating repair facility and can help guide you through the repair process after your application has been approved.

Step 1: Apply for the Program
Review the current eligibility requirements and submit your application through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). To qualify, you must meet all program requirements, including applying within the required timeframe after your failed emissions test.

Step 2: Schedule Your Repair
After your application is approved, schedule an appointment with Stapley Car Care. Bring your approval information and emissions test results so our technicians can inspect your vehicle and complete the approved emissions-related repairs. You'll pay the required $100 co-pay, and the program may cover up to $900 toward eligible repairs. Any remaining balance above the program limit is the vehicle owner's responsibility.

Step 3: Return for Your Emissions Test
Once repairs are complete, return to any Arizona emissions testing station for a retest. Some participating repair facilities may be able to assist with the retest process—ask our team for details.

Step 4: Renew Your Registration
After your vehicle passes its emissions test, renew your vehicle registration through the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

Important Information
If you choose not to move forward with repairs after the vehicle has been diagnosed, a diagnostic fee may apply, and your vehicle may no longer be eligible to participate in the program until your next registration cycle.
